Charity's Room

Six year old Charity has a complicated disorder called Dysmotility Mitochondria. She requires constant monitoring and care but you would only have a hint that she is sick by her constant companion on wheels, BB8, which houses her medications administered via surgically implanted ports. She is spunky, animated and very smart! She loves Disneyland and her favorite ride is the “Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage”. She recently saw the new “Finding Dory” movie, so she asked for an under the ocean room with Nemo and Dory in it. Our amazing carpenters extraordinaire, Greg and Dwight, actually built a yellow submarine bed for her, just like the ride! Her painted wall mural and 3D flooring give the impression of actually being under the ocean. Southwest Scenic Group created a “coral reef” desk, a “hank” chandelier and the adorable “Mine, Mine” birds that actually talked. Her favorite characters, Dory and Nemo, were 3D art pieces created by Ray, along with Ariel and Squirt, the sea turtle. So, we say to Charity, “Just keep swimming”! ​
